After moving into the area, Derek came into move a kitchen unit, plumb a dishwasher in, tile a splash back and redo some sealant. Although not as big as the usual jobs Adell’s do, the service we received was second to none and the timeframe it was done in and workmanship were excellent. We are really pleased with the kitchen Derek fitted for us, including a tiled floor throughout the kitchen/diner. He carefully matched the marbled pattern on the wall tiles creating a lovely feature between the hob and cooker extractor hood. Derek pays great attention to detail and careful measuring, and also took time with us to think through our requirements and how best they could be achieved. In April last year my partner & I began work totally renovating a four bedroom, four bathroom property, turning it into our first blended family home.
Having totally stripped the house back to its bare bones, we were lucky enough to secure Derek at Adells as one of two main independent contractors assisting us with the project.
From the out-set Derek was on-hand to offer help and advice on how to best tackle all manner of on-site jobs, helping us to understand how best to achieve the results we were looking for and assist us in ensuring that things could be done on-time and on budget!
When unexpected problems arose during the renovation he was quick to offer solutions and able to undertake all manner of additional work to enable us to move forward and get into our family home.
Derek has totally re-plumbed our house – including reformatting some ugly exterior pipework, installing a new boiler & water cylinder, water pumps & water softener, along with fitting & tiling both en-suite bathrooms and connecting a whole house central heating system.
He even fitted brand new flooring boards on the whole upper floor & provided a bespoke water supply for the fish tank!
He has assisted us in levelling the ground floor of the house, following the removal of several walls and the re-configuration of living space, enabling him to lay a beautiful chevron patterned laminate flooring across the whole lower level.
Our fantastic new cream gloss kitchen with wooden work surface was all installed by Derek, and he even managed to fashion the work surface off-cuts into co-ordinating chunky window sills – which really finish off the look of the open-plan kitchen/family room.
We were so impressed with his woodworking skills that we commissioned him to make a large dining table for us, using more work-surface and with recessed slate tiles in the centre – which act as trivets when serving up dinner ‘family-style’ straight from the oven.
Derek also used the same slate tiles to finish our open fire hearth & provide the splashback behind the cooker – so the whole room feels beautifully co-ordinated.
Derek has always supplied us with itemised quotations and carried out the jobs he has quoted on within his specified timescale and at the cost quoted.
We have been extremely lucky to have him on-board with this project, as he has a willingness to help and turn his hand to any type of job. We have no hesitation in recommending Derek to everyone we know & we already have some more work lined up for him later this year!
Thanks to Derek’s hard-work & commitment our beautiful blended family were able to celebrate Christmas in our new home. Thank you Derek, we really appreciate all of your time and effort – from what was once a shell of a building we now have a warm, inviting, beautiful family home.
